Take two (and call me in the morning)

Last year this time down in Newport, Rhode Island, it was cold and rainy. (Dare I say Dark N' Stormy?) This year it was cooking, but that didn't stop one of our good friends from recreating a photo op from last year's wet festivities.

This time with 200% more guns.

Love me some blues.

Printed up a new colorway of Love Me Some Jesus. She's blue. And my favorite color combo on that print to date.

At Home in Colorado Springs.

A Tennesseean now residing in CO. Some Dinner And prints alongside a couple prints from the Grand Ole Opry Store. Some southern flavor out west.

Shirt stack.

We've got some shirts we need to get rid of. They are returns that folks have sent back to us (sizing reasons) that are just taking up room in our 97 square foot office. So they gotta move.

We're selling them for $23 with free shipping. Which is $10 off the normal price if you were to pay shippin. Only caveat, these dudes are final sale. And there's only one of each shirt, so first come, first served.

So, check the sizing chart and find you one. Email us at orders@theoldtry.com, and we'll send one or two your way.

10 Type.

Blake Wylie of Franklin, TN makes really beautiful pictures. Ones taken today, or yesterday, but that look like they could be from 1856. His photography utilizes the Wet Plate Collodion process, which was invented in the 1850s and proliferated during the 60-80s. Some may know the process as Tintypes.

Ain't much more to say I don't guess, except that if you want a picture taken on glass, I figure you should get in touch with Mr. Wylie. If he's anything like his camera, he'll be around for some time yet.

At Home in San Diego.

A childhood friend of mine moved off to California when we started middle school.
She wanted a little southern flavor in her home, so a full set of Dinner And prints found themselves in her daughter's San Diego nursery.

New print about to drop. Called O Watermelon. #ramblings

Baby you're a firework.

Lay Baby Lay has designed yet another rad room for a little one, this time called Little Firecracker, featuring a District print. And to boot, this one she's curated for Better Homes and Gardens.

And I've really wanted to use this starburst that was trending on Twitter for half a minute on the 4th:

Night Hunting.

Night Hunting

By John Casteen

Because we wanted things the way they were
in our minds’ black eyes we waited. The beaver
raising ripples in a vee behind his head
the thing we wanted. A weed is what might grow
where you don’t want it; a dahlia could be a weed,
or love, or other notions. The heart can’t choose
to find itself enchanted; the hand can’t choose
to change the shape of water. How strange, to hope
to see the signs of motion, to make an end
to Peter’s old refrain: He’ll be along, son of a bitch,
and then you best be ready.
So sure, and so sure
that when he shines the light the thing will show
along the other shore. What next? Well,
you’ve killed animals before. Invited here
for company in the cold night, and because
ever handy with rifles. What next is wait
and see, what next may be the lone report, the ever-
widening circles, blood-blossom, the spirit rising slow
like oily smoke above still waters. We wanted
a pond to look like a pond: standing poplars,
shallows unsullied, fish and frogs and salamanders.
The gleaming back of fur and fat may not belong,
or may: God of varmints, God of will, forgive us
our trespasses. We know precisely what we do.

Get Georgia Off My Mind.

19"x 23" Framed Wisdom, Justice, Moderation Print - $95  SOLD!

You can have too much of a good thing. Like Old Try prints if, say, you were Old Try. Last year, we sent a print down to Senoia, GA to be put in the Southern Living Idea House. Well, that was that, and the good folks at Tracery Interiors found an Ikea frame for it and cut a mat and popped it up on the walls and that is where it lived for a few months while thousands of folks walked by it and found something more interesting to look at.

It was sent back up to us, and we didn't know what to do with it, so we put it on the floor by our shelves, where it has been living since. We don't really need it, and would love to get it into your hands if you want a good looking Georgia print that is already framed up.

$95 will cover the framed print as well as shipping and insurance and as soon as you get it, you can hang it in your house, and then have a party and you can casually tell all your friends that it was in a Southern Living House. NBD.

First one to ask gets it. Drop a line to holler@theoldtry.com and we'll send you an invoice.
